In one of the provinces of Sudan, the teacher decided to motivate her students for studying well, and decided to give a new pair of shoes. The students liked the idea. Everyone started to write compositions in anticipation of receiving the gift-prize. When the students handed in their work the teacher was perplexed who to give the promised gift. She decided to give the present on a random basis and asked the students to write down their names on the sheet of paper. Mixing all the papers in a box, the teacher called the name of the “lucky” girl. Wafaa Abdelkarim! All the students congratulated Wafaa and she really deserved this gift. Although her shoes were worn off, she was among the top students at school. The teacher came home and told this story to her husband. Her husband was flattered by the act of his wife. But he did not know why his wife was so excited and was amazed by her answer. The truth is that the name of Wafaa Abdelkarim was written on all the papers in the box. The students knew that she was from a poor family and could not buy new shoes for her. So, they decided to give the gift to their classmate.
