Armenia Representation on International Legal Matters: Soldier Davit Gishyan was killed in Azerbaijan captivity
Relatives recognized Armenian conscript soldier Davit Gishyan, born in 2002, in a video that was posted on an Azerbaijani Telegram channel.
It became clear from the video that Gishyan was wounded in the shoulder and had ended up in Azerbaijani captivity.
Hasmik Samvelyan, spokesperson of the Government of Armenia Representation on International Legal Matters, told Armenian News-NEWS.am that Gishyan was killed in captivity.
Samvelyan added that they have already sent a respective letter to the European Court of Human Rights.
"Azerbaijan has grossly violated Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. We have petitioned also under Article 3, which protects a person from torture and humiliating treatment. We demand that an urgent measure be applied to Azerbaijan," she said.
The spokesperson of the Government of Armenia Representation on International Legal Matters added that they are going to appeal also to the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
The dead body of Davit Gishyan was one of the 32 Armenian dead bodies that were returned recently by Azerbaijan.
